Grant and Sharon Torrens
Grant has been involved in boating all his life. In the 1980s, he was a daredevil speed-skiing phenomenon. He sped away with the world waterskiing speed record of 156mph in the US - a mark that still stands unbeaten today.
Boating runs in the blood for both Grant and Sharon. Grant’s dad, Grev, formed the Torrens Water Ski Gardens,and the Aquatic Park Golf Course & Ski Gardens at Wisemans Ferry north of Sydney in the 1950’s and 60’s. Grant triumphed in the 1980’s & 90’s when he set the World Water Ski Speed record at 156mph – behind his own Top Fuel Drag Boat “Torrens Title” A record that stands to this day. Grant has held nearly every major water ski speed and endurance record, including World Barefoot Water Ski Speed records set here and the U.S. Being the first Barefoot water skier to break the magical 100 MPH mark, and The worlds longest Ocean endurance ski record from Brisbane to Sydney twice.
Sharon was a six-time Australian Ski Race Champion and a member of the World Barefoot Water Ski championship team that toured the US where she broke the World Womens Barefoot Speed Record at Long Beach Marine Stadium and Oakland Marine Stadium In California, it’s no wonder they turned to boating to continue earning their living. The dedication taken to be water ski champs stands them in good stead for a business that runs seven days and nights a week.
Their son, 19 year old Mitchell, also seems to have boating in his veins as he willingly trotted around in the early morning air, removing covers, and making sure he knows all about the boats that are at the Brokerage. He currently is working at North Shore Real Estate studying for his license. Grant and Sharon hope that Mitchell will one day follow his Dad’s footsteps into the International Brokerage Business.
Such is the professionalism that goes hand in hand with Sharon, Grant and their experienced, full time Brokerage team is that they are now Brokers for Lazzara Yachts, as well as holding agencies for the South Pacific region for Christensen Motor Yachts USA, and Sovereign Motor Yachts NZ.
